BiOssa is an organic almond farmland in Ossa, a small village under mountain Kissavos,in Greece. Since 1972 they cultivate and harvest almonds.
As the third generation of this heritage they have created biOssa and apply organic and regenerative farming with sustainable development.
In the interview shared below, we gain insights into the winery products with a fresh perspective on the values and qualities producer is looking for in the production journey.
Q. What is the core product of Your brand?
A. Our core product is raw organic almonds and organic almond butters.
Q. Tell us about the process Your product goes through, from sourcing to the packaging phase?
A. “biOssa is an organic almond farmland in Ossa, a small village under mountain Kissavos,in Greece. Since 1972 we cultivate and harvest almonds.
As the third generation of this heritage we created biOssa and we apply organic and regenerative farming with sustainable development. Also we made our own almond tree nursery, and ensure that our almond grow according to our organic philosophy. We farm, harvest, clean and dry our almonds under the sun ourselves. Then we process them in organic certified almond huller-sheller.
Our almonds are stored in a temperature and humidity controlled storeroom, under systematic pest control. We pack and label ourselves our nuts and products, with tested and certified materials according to HACCP guidelines and we use only recyclable and biodegradable packaging. For our almond butters we use sterile glass jam with protective film under the lid. Finally we ship our nuts and butters using dry cargo conditions “
Q. What are the qualities You are looking for when creating Your product?
A. “We grown our almonds without synthetic fertilizers and pesticides using animal manure and we cooperate with the beehive ecosystem for pollination.This way we ensure our good yield and our nut quality. We always aim to pure, natural, nutritious, fresh, fully flavored and tasty almonds. biOssa butters are made with only one ingredient, our organic almonds.
Free from sugar,salt,palm oil,gluten,lactose,lecithin,GMO,trans fat,additives,preservatives and colorants.”
Q. What makes Your product better than the one of Your competitor?
A. “Organic for us means live and work in harmony with nature. We are blessed to farm in our village Ossa and we do all the work ourselves, with love and passion until our products reach distributors and consumers. We always control each stage of production from our land to your home. This way we are sure that we offer unique organic nuts and butters.”
Q. What is the greatest challenge You’ve encountered while creating Your product?
A. “We have a holistic approach in organic farming which consists of what we call “”7 miracles of our world” sun, soil, water, plants, weather, animal, people. We are always focused in achieving affordable and clean energy,clean water,and ethical work.We support responsible production and consumption and we promote decent partnerships.”
