Domaine Fernand ENGEL: The Biggest Organic Independent Winery of Alsace

Domaine Fernand ENGEL at Organic Newspaper

Domaine Fernand ENGEL is the biggest organic independent winery of Alsace. It has been recognized as Organic for 20 years which led to wines with better acidity, better mineral contents, and an improvement in the taste of their wines. In winemaking, their ambition is to produce elegant wines, very precise aromatically, fresh, and generous.

The winery produces more dry wines and top sweet wines with impressive freshness. Every year, the winery produces 20 to 30% of sweet wines (Vendanges Tardives and Sélections de Grains Nobles) with nice international recognition like Organic Newspaper. 35% of its production is Crémant d’Alsace that is dry and generous, with a creamy style and a velvet touch in the palate. They also produce a UNIQUE Sparkling called Trilogie made of 3 fermentations (1 in tank, 2 in bottle) which is usually done in the Beer industry but never in the Wine industry.

As red wine lovers, especially Pinot Noir, they always make sure to reach the satisfying level of maturity in grapes and produce Pinot Noir in Californian style.

Domaine Fernand ENGEL has joined International Organic Awards 2021 and has received Gold and Silver Awards, awarded by Organic Newspaper for the following products:

Domaine Fernand ENGEL started exporting their brand in 1988 with proximity markets like Belgium, Netherlands, and Denmark. In the 2000s, they have started their development in Scandinavia that was rapidly successful as they could supply quality products in Organic where demand was high. From 2005 to 2010, they have a very nice reputation with sparklings and dry white wines and have also expanded to Baltic countries.

They export 50% of their production and this proportion is growing year after year. They are currently exporting their wines in Europe, Asia, and the US and still looking for importers in other countries to make their brand well-known worldwide.
