Fonseca was one of the pioneers of organic viticulture in the Douro valley.
Due to an agreement with a specialised distiller who was able to supply grape spirit for fortification made from certified organically farmed grapes, it became possible to produce a Port made entirely from organic viticulture grapes in 2002.
As an aftermath, Terra Prima Reserve is made. It is an elegant reserve blend with fresh vibrant fruit taste with natural aromas of grape varieties.
The Portuguese certifying body Socert has approved that the Terra Prima Reserve is from organically grown grapes.
This port has an opulent black fruit nose and will give the palate layers of berry, plum and cherry fruit flavors. It is a deliciously textured velvety port wine is also plump and goes particularly well with chocolate truffles after dinner or with chocolate truffles and blueberry fondant.
